BYD showcases the third-generation Tang SUV

Today at the Chengdu Auto Show, BYD showcased the third-generation Tang SUV, which is an important model because it's meant to revitalize the sales of the Tang series, together with the bigger Da Tang (Great Tang).

The new Tang is a five-seat mid-to-large SUV that will go on sale at some point during the fourth quarter of this year, so from October to December. It's 198.6 inches long, 78 inches wide, 69.3 inches tall, and has a 116.1 inches wheelbase.

It uses BYD's second-generation Blade battery, with two options: 88.6 kWh and 105.7 kWh. The range varies by configuration, it is at least 454 miles and at most 528 miles, obviously using the CLTC cycle, which as always you should keep in mind is by far the most optimistic one out there.

At normal temperatures, the battery can charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes, and to 97% in 9 minutes. In very cold conditions, it takes about 3 minutes longer. According to a previous filing with Chinese regulators, the car will have a single electric motor with a peak output of 300 kW (402 hp), and a top speed of 155 mph.

The new Tang features BYD's DiSus-A intelligent air suspension body control system, which includes dual-chamber air suspension and an intelligent road-preview function. The car is also equipped with BYD's God's Eye B driver assistance system, featuring one LiDAR.
