2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E gets more power and range for less money

The upgrades to the Ford factory in Mexico have been completed and the company is opening order books for the improved Mustang Mach-E on May 3. The standard vehicle gets improved range, there are power increases and improved charging times and the company even gives a free 90-day trial of BlueCruise to Mustang Mach-E buyers.

The entry-level 2023 Mustang Mach-E gets a new LFP battery, which results in a higher EPA rating of 250 miles (402 km) for the RWD version and 226 miles (363 km) for the AWD model. That’s an improvement of 20 and 15 miles respectively. Both models receive a $3,000 reduced MSRP and now the RWD model starts at $42,995 and the AWD version starts at $45,995.

The AWD model gets a surprise power bump as well - the total output now sits at a rather comfortable 311 hp (45 hp more) and the results are obvious - 0 to 60 mph time drops to 5.1 seconds. Charging time is improved as well, both vehicles with the LFP battery take 33 minutes to charge from 10 to 80% using the DC fast charger.

Ford Mustang Mach-E GT gets the biggest price cut - it starts now from $59,995 which is $4,000 less than before. Premium AWD and RWD versions get $4,000 lower MSRP and upgrading to the extended range battery still requires $7,000 extra. Nite Pony package remains unchanged at $800 and although BlueCruise 1.2 can be now tried for 90 days free of charge, its full price has gone up to $2,100 - that includes 3 years of updates.

The GT version of Mach-E yet again misses out on the US EV tax credit. While all the other versions qualify for a partial $3,500 top-up from the government, the fastest electric Mustang is too expensive. The threshold is $55,000 and even with its new, lower price, the fastest e-pony is just too pricey. None of the Mustangs qualify for the full $7,500 rebate due to the battery being manufactured outside of the US.
