2024 Skoda Enyaq gets longer range, faster charging and more power

Ro, 07 December 2023

Skoda announced some considerable improvements of its Enyaq SUV for the 2024 model year, bringing longer range, faster charging and more torque. That's all thanks to the new rear motor and battery chemistry. The lineup is down to three Enyaq models - the 85, 85x and the RS (the Coupe variants also) - and they all get a new drivetrain.

The Enyaq 85 configuration can now cover up to 351 miles on a single charge per the WLPT cycle (up from 341 miles), while the maximum power output is now 210 kW, up from 150 kW. That's all thanks to the new rear-mounted motor that's not only more powerful but more efficient as well. There's no change in the battery charging speed here.

The 85x variant, on the other hand, now charges from 10 to 80% in 28 minutes, which is 6 minutes faster thanks to the new 175 kW max charging rate. The range jump is more modest, though - from 326 miles to 334 miles as well as the power output - from 195 kW to 210 kW.

The Enyaq RS's power increase is 30 kW and is now 250 kW, whereas the range goes up to 336 miles from 321 miles. The charging rate is the same as on the 85x - 175 kW, so a 10-80% charging cycle will take 28 minutes.

In addition to the hardware improvements, Skoda announced a new preconditioning feature for the battery. The battery's managment system can bring the battery to an optimal temperature before you get to the charging station, either manually or automatically, depending on the current battery temperature and the navigation data.

It almost "works" on latest hardware models released in 2024, good luck with usable software on older models ... let alone happy waiting for software upgrade that will never arrive.

The OS is absolutely fine.

Oh god, the old one was an 2,75 ton ... "vehicle" ... I really hope they at least made it lighter, with usable OS (they certainly did not) and with better efficiency.
