Tesla's production Cybertruck now fits more easily into The Boring Company's Vegas Loop

Vlad, 10 January 2024

If you're wondering why the Tesla Cybertruck shrunk from its initial unveiling to the start of production, we have an idea. Maybe Elon Musk's company really, really wanted it to easily fit into The Boring Company's Vegas Loop tunnel.

Okay, there were probably many more considerations at work, but it's funny to entertain this possibility, isn't it? The proof has just been posted by the City of Las Vegas over on X.

That's a pretty smooth ride, although claustrophobes should probably stay away from that video. Now, compare that to November 2020, when Jay Leno drove a Cybertruck into a Boring Company tunnel with Elon Musk sitting in the passenger seat. Take a look:

That's much tighter fit, and required a lot of careful maneuvering on Leno's part. So, while the shrinkage of the Cybertruck probably didn't happen in order for it to better fit in The Boring Company's tunnel, it sure did help it with that very specific, very niche use case.
