Ro, 24 March 2022

Previously available only for pre-orders, the long-range, single-motor version of the Polestar 2 is now finally available for sale on US soil. On the outside, the EV is indistinguishable from the more dual-motor option but it's less powerful and more affordable.

The Polestar 2 with one motor starts at $45,900 as opposed to the $51,200 dual-motor version and that price can go down to $33,400 using federal and state incentives. Of course, those incentives vary from state to state.

Using the same 78kWh battery and driving only the front wheels, the car is rated at up to 435km (270 miles) maximum range according to EPA while WLTP cites 540km (335 miles). The maximum output of the motor is 231hp or 170kW. It can draw up to 150kW of DC, achieving an 80% charge in 40 minutes.

The base version can be upgraded with two additional packages - Plus and Pilot. The first one gives you a mechanical heat pump that extends the range, panoramic roof, Harman Kardon audio system and WeaveTech vegan interior. It will set you back $4,000 while an additional $3,200 for the Pilot give you advanced driver assistance in the form of adaptive cruise control and blindspot detection.
