BYD Atto 2 is coming to Europe

BYD has unveiled the latest addition to its European EV lineup. The new Atto 2 is a compact crossover set to rival popular models like the Vauxhall Frontera and Renault 4, offering a compelling blend of technology, practicality, and affordability.

The Atto 2 is a smaller sibling of the Atto 3, measuring 169.69 inches long, 72.05 inches wide, and 66.14 inches tall. It's slightly longer and taller than a Volkswagen ID.3, but despite its compact size, the Atto 2 comfortably seats five and boasts a 14.1 ft³ trunk.

The latest EV entrant from BYD packs a 174-horsepower front-wheel-drive electric motor powered by a 45.1 kWh battery pack. This setup promises 194 miles of range, making it suitable for both city commutes and longer journeys. The Atto 2 is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0, which we already know from the BYD Dolphin hatchback. However, the Atto 2 is the first compact BYD model to feature the cell-to-body (CTB) design. This design not only improves structural integrity but also allows for a more spacious interior.

In terms of design, the Atto 2 adopts a more conventional approach compared to some of its rivals. It has classic headlights and a black element between them, reminiscent of a traditional grille. The rear has an LED strip that connects the two taillights - BYD's visual signature.

Inside the Atto 2, you'll find a modern and tech-forward cabin. The centerpiece is BYD's signature 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen, which can be used in both portrait and landscape orientations. This user-friendly interface provides access to a range of features, including navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings.

BYD has positioned the Atto 2 as an "affordable SUV for the European market." While official pricing has yet to be confirmed, it's expected to be in the mid-$26,000s, making it an interesting option in the compact EV segment. The Atto 2 will go on sale in Europe as early as March 2025, with a larger battery version expected to follow later in the year.
