Zeekr 007 GT claims impressive 825-km range

Zeekr, a high-end electric car brand owned by the Geely Group, has only recently unveiled the latest addition to its portfolio. The upcoming Zeekr 007 GT estate was given an impressive range rating of up to 513 miles on a single charge, according to Chinese regulatory filings. This is an impressive figure, even if we consider the numbers from CLTC hardly ever come true.

Zeekr, founded in 2021, has quickly expanded its lineup. The 007 GT, initially known by its codename CC1E, is built on the PMA2+ platform, derived from the SEA modular architecture developed by Zeekr Technology Europe in Sweden. This platform is shared with the Zeekr 007. The company already sells its vehicles in several European countries, including the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, and the 007 GT is expected to follow suit under the name Zeekr 7 GT.

Zeekr 007 GT claims impressive 825-km range

The secret behind the 007 GT's remarkable range lies in its advanced battery technology. Zeekr offers two battery options for the 007 GT. The entry-level model has a 75 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) "Golden Brick Battery" developed by CATL in partnership with Zeekr. This battery stands out for its rapid DC charging capability. Thanks to an 800V high-voltage system, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 10.5 minutes.

The top-tier Zeekr 007 GT comes equipped with a 100 kWh ternary NMC battery, also supplied by CATL. This larger battery pack, also using the 800V system, can add 379 miles of range in just 15 minutes, according to Zeekr.

The Zeekr 007 GT's design aligns with Zeekr's "Hidden Energy" aesthetic. The car measures 191.5 inches in length, 74.8 inches in width, and 56.9 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 115.2 inches. It offers 19-inch and 20-inch wheel options. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version has a single 310 kW (416 hp) electric motor, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant adds a 165 kW (221 hp) motor to the front axle, resulting in a combined output of 475 kW (637 hp). Unlike the Zeekr 007 sedan, which has a low ground clearance, the 007 GT features air suspension. An optional tow hook further adds to the car's practicality.

The Zeekr 007 GT is scheduled to launch in China in the second quarter of this year, with its European debut following shortly after.

As a rule of thumb you have to multiply CLTC ranges with 0.8 to get to the WLTP range. If you're driving in the winter at highway speeds (~130 kph) you can cut WLTP in half.
