Zeekr teases family-focused electric SUV
Zeekr, the Chinese EV manufacturer that's part of Geely's extensive family of auto brands, is set to expand its lineup with the introduction of a new mid-to-large-size SUV codenamed CX1e. The company just teased the upcoming model with camouflaged images.
The CX1e will be Zeekr's first SUV designed specifically for the family market, a segment that has seen significant growth in the EV space. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, Zeekr's entry into the family SUV segment is a strategic move that could significantly boost its sales and market share.
Zeekr has already found success with its Zeekr 001, the 007 sedan, the 009 MPV, and the compact X SUV. However, the CX1e will add yet another dimension to its portfolio and potentially help attract families seeking a spacious and practical electric SUV.
Zeekr's vice president, Lin Jinwen, shared the camouflaged images on Weibo. The images not only showcased the vehicle's silhouette but also hinted at a possible name for the SUV, with the camouflage wrap featuring "x's" and a hidden "z." This has led to speculation that the model could be named the Zeekr ZX or XZ.
While details are scarce, the CX1e is expected to be built on Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform. This platform already serves as a base for several successful EV models, and it is expected to provide the CX1e with a decent performance, and range. Zeekr has not yet announced an official launch date for the CX1e, but it is expected to go on sale in the second half of 2024.
