BMW iX1 leaks on the eve of its debut
BMW is set to unveil the X1 and the electrified iX1 on June 1, and in keeping with tradition, the pair has leaked online. The leak uncovers many key details as well as some of the specs.
The BMW iX1 takes many design cues from its larger stablemate, the iX3. It features large, chrome-laden kidney grilles, an aggressive, shark-like nose front, LED headlights and taillights, and a low, dynamic stance.
Inside, the BMW iX1 features a curved driver's display, divided into a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and a 10.7-inch main control display. The system is powered by BMW's iDrive 8. There's a wireless charging tray for your phone as well.
Interestingly, there's no knob for the iDrive system but instead a small gear shifter.
The BMW iX1 will feature a 64.7 kWh battery pack and 200kW (268 hp) of power output that can be boosted by further 30 kW (40 hp) under heavy load.
WLTP range is 438 km while charging sits at 11 kW with an optional 22 kW system available as well. Per BMW's claims, the iX1 will take 29 minutes to go from 10% to 80%, while a 10-minute stint on the charger will give you a range of 120 km.
It's unclear whether this leaked configuration of the BMW iX1 will be all-wheel drive, but the power output sounds more like a single axle drive. There will undoubtedly be an X-Drive model as well.
