BMW pushes a big OTA software update to 3.8 million of its vehicles
In an official press release, BMW announced that it has started seeding the latest software update to to BMW's Operating System 8. Version 7 of the OS will get the new functionalities pretty soon. Currently, there are 3.8 million vehicles running Operating System 8.
The changelog outlines ten major changes. One of them improves the charging route feature on the BMW iX and i4 models manufactured before July 2022. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant also gets an upgrade and is now more capable and has better visual expression. Integration of Amazon Alexa is finally available if you rely on the company's personal assistant.
Additionally, the software adds two new modes - "Expressive" and "Relax", although this is only for iX and 2 Series Active Tourer models prior to July 2022. The same models get an exit warning feature when getting out of the car as well as Front Collision Warning with braking intervention.
Some changes to the BMW ID and My BMW apps are made to improve overall experience and users can also add new clock display called QLOCKTWO.
