Electric Porsche Panamera will join new Taycan in 2027
Porsche’s plan to have six electric models on the market by 2030 is well underway. With Macan EV doing its final laps around the Nurburgring in preparation for its official unveiling, the Taycan replacement coming in 2027 would make it the party of two.
The third electric car from Porsche will be Panamera which the company is planning to unveil at around the same time as the updated Taycan. There were rampant rumors that Taycan cannibalized the bigger Panamera but thankfully, the company still sees a good market for its luxury 4-door GT.
Both the Taycan and Panamera will be based on the VW’s SSP platform but the Panamera, being a much larger car, will aim to compete with Lucid Air and Mercedes EQS. That means more room and more performance.
Speaking of performance, Taycan will carry on the torch for the brand as the fastest electric car, at least for the time being, until we see the first electric 911. It will be a while though and it is possible that 911 will use internal combustion power for much longer, if Porsche has its way with synthetic fuels.
The Macan EV will go into production next year and it will reach first customers at the beginning of 2024. 2025 is shaping up to be the year of electric Cayenne, which will share the PPE platform with the Macan. The year after that, we can expect to see Porsche’s first 7-seater - codenamed K1, it will be a luxury SUV, bigger than Cayenne.
The refreshed Panamera is coming next year but it will be only available with ICE or hybrid power, as it is the case now. Electric Macan, Panamera and Cayenne will also come with combustion engine powered versions until at least 2030.
To finish off the 6 electric models that Porsche plans to have on sale by 2030, Boxster and Cayman duo will launch their electric versions towards the end of 2026. The 911 is expected to use fuel for at least another 10 years but the first hybrid version is coming next year. The rumors swirling around are pointing to the Turbo S being the first electrified 911, although it is most likely to be a mild-hybrid system.
