Fisker Ronin GT promises 600 miles of range
Fisker is gearing up to give EV enthusiasts a peek at its third model, the enigmatic Fisker Ronin. While details about this electric super GT remain scant, the hype around its potential is growing. With its CEO dropping hints of an incredible 600 miles of range, is the Ronin about to shake up the EV industry?
Hot on the heels of delivering its flagship SUV, the Ocean, in the US, Fisker seems to be full steam ahead with its newest model. Unveiled on social media platforms, the convertible super GT is raising eyebrows for its promised range. A grand leap forward, the anticipated 600 miles, if real, will surpass the current record held by Lucid Motor's Air Dream Edition, which boasts a range of 520 miles.
Fisker's CEO, Henrik Fisker, shared a sneak peek of the Ronin GT on his personal Instagram account, sparking curiosity amongst the brand's followers. Described as an 'All-Electric Super GT', he teased that the car would be "super fast" and have room for five, branding it as "the ultimate long-distance Grand Touring car."
But are these bold promises more than just social media hype? Can Fisker deliver on the ambitious 600 miles target? While the excitement is high, it's worth taking a pinch of skepticism along for the ride. Remember, the EV world has seen its fair share of high-range promises that have come up short. And yet, Fisker has a not-so-secret weapon at its disposal - Fisker Ocean. This electric SUV promised 350 miles of range and over-delivered with EPA-rated 360 miles, its WLTP rating stands at even higher 440 miles. If we were to judge Ronin’s chances based on Ocean’s performance - we’d say it’s a resounding yes, it can deliver.
The Ronin GT is expected to integrate a battery pack within its structure, akin to the Tesla Model Y. This car is also set to introduce "unique doors for better ingress and egress," according to Henrik Fisker. Complementing these features is a promise of a luxurious, sustainable vegan interior, a clear nod to the growing demand for eco-conscious choices in vehicle design.
Aesthetically, the Ronin aims to turn heads. The latest rendering reveals sporty accents such as muscular fenders, a sculpted vented hood, a rear light bar, and sizable wheels. With the retractable metal roof shut, it presents an image of sleek, modern beauty that's hard to ignore.
Yet, the Ronin is just a piece of the puzzle in Fisker's ambitious plans. The EV automaker also announced the Pear model, an entry-level EV that's expected to hit the market in 2025 with a starting price under $30,000. This dedication to diversifying the range of available EV styles shows Fisker's intent to cater to varying consumer needs and preferences.
The Ronin, anticipated to start at around $200,000, is expected to go on sale around 2025 after the production commences in the second half of 2024. This follows the recently started delivery of the Ocean SUV, which Fisker claims boasts the lowest carbon footprint in its class.
Fisker will fully reveal the Ronin on August 3, offering further insight into this EV of tomorrow.
