Aito, the electric vehicle brand backed by tech giant Huawei, isn't resting on its laurels. Fresh off the heels of the successful six-seat Aito M9 SUV, the company has just unveiled a five-seat version, expanding the appeal of this luxurious electric SUV.

The new five-seat configuration maintains the generous dimensions of its six-seat sibling. It stretches an impressive 205.91 inches long, 78.35 inches wide, and stands 70.9 inches tall, riding on a spacious 122.44 inches wheelbase. That means ample room for passengers and cargo, whether you're navigating city streets or embarking on a cross-country road trip.

Five-seat Aito M9 launched in China

Like its predecessor, the five-seat Aito M9 comes in two flavors: an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and a fully electric battery electric vehicle (BEV). The EREV offers two variants, starting at RMB 469,800 ($66,000) and RMB 529,800 ($74,400), respectively, while the BEV has a single option priced at RMB 569,800 ($80,000).

The EREV variants combine a 1.5T engine with dual electric motors, delivering a combined peak power of 395 kW (536 horsepower). This setup propels the SUV from 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds. The EREV models draw power from either a 42 kWh or 52 kWh battery pack, offering battery-only CLTC range of 140 miles and 171 miles respectively.

The BEV variant, on the other hand, ditches the gasoline engine and relies solely on dual electric motors, producing a combined peak power of 390 kW (523 horsepower). This allows for an even quicker 0 to 62 mph sprint of just 4.3 seconds. The BEV model is built on Huawei's advanced 800V Giant Whale platform and packs a 100 kWh battery, providing a CLTC range of 391 miles.

Regardless of your powertrain preference, the five-seat Aito M9 features Huawei's ADS 3.0 intelligent driving system, supported by a sophisticated 192-channel LiDAR sensor and other advanced hardware.

With this latest addition to the Aito M9 lineup, Huawei will only improve its position in the competitive luxury electric SUV market. The Aito M9 has already proven its popularity, amassing over 130,000 orders since its launch and delivering more than 86,000 vehicles. The five-seat option adds another layer of versatility to an already impressive SUV, making it even more appealing to a wider range of buyers.
