Hyundai will open order books for the Ioniq 6 in the UK on November 9. Those who wish to get one of the most awaited electric cars will need to be quick, the car will be sold in a limited numbers and in a special First Edition trim priced at GBP 54,995 or just over €63,700.

The car on its own looks interesting and it has no chance ever of being mistaken for any other car on the road. Hyundai decided to spice up the First Edition with a choice of four colors - Biophollic Blue Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Nocturne Grey Metallic and Gravity Gold Matte.

Although the names sound exciting, the colors themselves are a bit confusing - if we are to trust Hyundai’s configurator. The Gravity Gold Matte looks just like any other silver and it’s rather hard to see any pearl or serenity in the Serenity White Pearl. The Nocturne Grey Metallic looks like just any other gray color - let’s hope this is down to limitations of the website.

To finish off the exterior, the 20-inch wheels come in black matte color and there are plenty of gloss black accents - bottom of the rear bumper, side mirrors, front and rear lower spoilers and side sills.

On the inside we are greeted by a classy gray tartan fabric on the seats with leather side bolsters - just like in the Prophecy Concept. The tartan accents continue on the floor mats and the rest of the cabin comes in dark shades of gray and black.

The First Edition Ioniq 6 comes with the 77.4 kWh 800V battery pack that supports up to 350 kW DC fast charging. The dual-motor AWD system is rated at 325 HP (239 kW) and 605 Nm of torque - good enough for a 5.1 seconds sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) and a claimed 320 miles (515 km) of range.

First Edition will come with the Ionity Premium subscription which offers discounted rates for DC charging, according to the company the rates can go as low as GBP 0.25 or €0.27 per kWh - the subscription is free, not the charging. If you wanted to know, the Ionity Premium comes at €13 per month.

Assuming the real-life range is more likely around 420 km (260 miles), charging the Ioniq 6 works out at just shy of €21 or nearly €5 per 100 km using the Ioniq DC chargers. At 25,000 km (15,553 miles) per year that’s nearly €1,400 (GBP 1,210) including the costs of subscription - that’s cheaper than a 250cc scooter.

Hyundai did not confirm how many First Edition vehicles are dedicated for the UK market but the total number for Europe is only 2,500 - if you want one, you will need to be quick. Delivery dates have not been confirmed yet either but initially they were meant to begin in December this year - most likely we are looking at January 2023.
