Mercedes-Benz updates its Active Parking Assist
Mercedes-Benz just unveiled an enhanced version of its Active Parking Assist system. The latest edition is now available in a wide range of Mercedes-Benz models.
The improved system now operates at a speed of 2.5 mph - twice as fast as its predecessor, significantly reducing the time spent maneuvering into those tight spots.
Drivers can initiate the parking process with a simple touch of a button on the car's display screen. A status bar then provides a clear visual representation of the parking progress. During automated parking, the system mutes the PARKTRONIC signal tones, minimizing distractions for the driver.
This advanced parking technology is now a standard feature in a variety of Mercedes-Benz models, including the E-Class, S-Class, EQS, EQS SUV, EQE, EQE SUV, and all Maybach versions of these models equipped with the parking package and reversing camera.
The system actively searches for suitable spaces at speeds below 35 km/h, alerting the driver with a blue "P" symbol on the display. It can even identify parking spaces with as little as 50 centimeters of clearance at either end of the vehicle.
The enhanced Active Parking Assist system is designed to respond to changing conditions and ensure the safety of all road users. When reversing out of a parking space, the system's sensors are constantly on the lookout for crossing vehicles, cyclists, or pedestrians. If a potential hazard is detected, the system issues an immediate visual and audio warning. Should the driver fail to react, the vehicle will autonomously apply the brakes to prevent an accident.
