New Opel/Vauxhall Grandland debuts with 435 miles of range, and Intelli-Lux Pixel lights
Opel announced the new Grandland today, which takes the 3D Vizor and illuminated brand logo from the Opel Experimental concept. In the UK it will be known as Vauxhall Grandland.
The Grandland was designed and developed in Russelsheim and will be built in Eisenach. It's a C-SUV segment car and will come in EV, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid configurations.
The EV is based on Stellantis' new STLA Medium platform, which it shares with the new Peugeot e-3008. The platform's flat battery packaging design allows for up to a 98 kWh capacity that will provide up to 435 miles of WLTP range. The battery charges back at a maximum of 160 kW and you can expect to go from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
Opel hasn't yet shared the power figures, nor the motor configurations of the new Grandland, but expect at least three configurations. The Grandland will start with a Standard Range version with a 156 kW (210 hp) single motor on the front axle and a 73kWh battery. That one will have a WLTP range of up to 326 miles. There's a dual-motor version with the same battery but all-wheel drive and 236 kW (321 hp) output. Then, there's a Long Range version with a single front-mounted electric motor with 167 kw (228 hp) and the higher 98kWh battery - this is the hero model with 435 miles of range.
Open Grandland is 4,650 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, and 1,660 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,784 mm. It debuts the eye-catching Intelli-Lux Pixel HD lighting system, which has 51,200 lighting elements - 25,600 on each side. The Blits logo on the front and the Opel lettering on the rear will be permanently illuminated.
The headlights employ the Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD system, which reads the traffic with cameras and will cut out oncoming objects, ensuring other cars aren't glared.
The Grandland will display welcome and goodbye animations with graphical projectors in front of the vehicle.

Inside, you get a 16-inch central display to provide infotainment, navigation, as well as control vehicle settings. There's a second display behind the steering wheel, called the Digital Cluster.
The Grandland employs ergonomic AGR seats with powered bolsters for lateral comfort, and ventilation. You can spec the driver's seat with massage functions.
All fabrics inside the Grandland are 100% recycled.
Expect the Opel Grandland in dealerships this Autumn. Opel hasn't disclosed the price yet but it should be around £50,000.
