Avatr 11 EV by Huawei, Changan, and CATL starts rolling off production line

A newly launched EV that reaches customers adhering to the initially announced delivery timeline? That's a pretty rare sight these days, but one company that has managed to create just that is Avatr, the Chinese joint-venture between Changan, CATL, and Huawei. The Avatr 11 SUV was made official back in August, and now the first units are starting to roll off the production lines.

Mass production was expected (and will be reached) this month. The car is being made in Chongqing, Changan's home town. According to the shots from the factory, the most popular colors seem to be "Foggy Green", gray, and red.

In anticipation of deliveries, Avatr's first offline stores have opened in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Wuhan, as well as other Chinese cities. The plan is to have more than 200 stores across the country eventually. The Avatr 11 will also be officially sold in Huawei's flagship stores in Beijing and Shenzhen.

While only car maker Changan and world's biggest battery maker CATL have actual shares in Avatr, Huawei is partnering with them, providing the 'brain', OS, electric motors, and other important (but unnamed) parts of the car.

Starting in March 2023, Avatr 11 owners will reportedly get access to autonomous driving tech developed by Huawei, via an over-the-air software update. It looks like Huawei is doing the best it can to enter new product categories where it's less affected by the US government's bans than in the smartphone business.
