Europe-bound Lynk & Co Z20 spotted for the first time

Volvo and Geely-backed Lynk & Co has been spotted testing its latest creation, the all-electric Z20 SUV, on Chinese roads. Developed on Geely's SEA platform, it is destined for the international EV markets, with a European launch slated for late 2024.

Originally known by its codename E335, the Z20 has now been integrated into Lynk & Co's fast-growing Z-series lineup. The first photos without camouflage reveal a compact fastback SUV and what very much appears like a production-ready unit.

Drawing inspiration from the brand's futuristic "The Next Day" concept car, the Z20 boasts a distinctive single taillight unit that seamlessly blends into a ducktail spoiler, giving it a sporty and aerodynamic profile.

The Z20 shares several design elements with its Geely sibling, the Zeekr X crossover. The shared features include doors, flush handles, side-view mirrors, glass lines, and blackened pillars. However, the Z20 sets itself apart with its sloped roofline and three-spoke rims.

The latest Lynk & Co is expected to mirror the Zeekr X's impressive powertrain options. The entry-level variant will likely feature a 200 kW (268 hp) electric motor on the rear axle, while the 4WD variant is said to deliver a peak power of 315 kW (422 hp). A 66-kWh battery pack should provide the juice.

Spy shots have also revealed a flat-bottom steering wheel, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, and a center console equipped with wireless phone charging pads, cup holders, and some physical buttons. The gear shifter is located behind the steering wheel, contributing to the minimalist look.

Lynk & Co has yet to release official specifications and pricing details for the Z20, but the the Z20's anticipated arrival in European showrooms in late 2024 is already generating excitement among EV enthusiasts. Perhaps the hype is somewhat dampened by the tariffs imposed on China-made EVs. Will the Z20 be priced competitively in Europe? We don't have to wait long to find out.

The Z20 has similar vibes as the Zeekr X, but with a unique roofline and rims.
