Mercedes-Benz brings the all-electric GLC 400 to the United States

Mercedes-Benz is finally ready to show off its newest electric car in the United States. Drivers in America have waited a long time for this specific model. The German company confirmed that the electric GLC will make its big debut at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show. This is a big deal for fans of the brand; the gas-powered version is already a popular choice, and the new model swaps the fuel tank for a powerful battery, focusing on high-end tech and fast charging to win over luxury buyers.

The outside of the car looks modern but stays true to the classic Mercedes style. It features star-shaped lights that help the vehicle stand out when the sun goes down. The front gets an illuminated grille that replaces the traditional open vents, filled with hundreds of tiny pixelated LED squares. Mercedes wants everyone to know this is not just another average SUV.

Inside the cabin, the main attraction is the giant MBUX Hyperscreen. It measures just over 39 inches across, making it the largest continuous screen ever put in a Mercedes. It runs a new MB.OS that uses artificial intelligence from Microsoft and Google to talk to the driver. Whether you need directions or want to change the music, the car’s brain is ready to help. It even offers Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos through Apple CarPlay.

The GLC 400 is built on an 800V platform that allows for very fast charging. This model delivers 360 kW (483 horsepower) - plenty of power for merging onto fast highways or passing slower traffic. On a full charge, the car can travel about 443 miles, according to the European testing standards. American tests are usually a bit tougher, so the official number in the US might be slightly lower. Still, it offers more than enough range for most family road trips.

The competition for electric cars is getting much tougher every year. Mercedes is working hard to keep the GLC at the top of the sales charts by turning its vehicles into rolling living rooms. The GLC 400 is more than just a way to get from one house to another - it is a high-speed tech gadget on wheels. For many families, this mix of luxury and new software will be very hard to resist.

Americans can expect to see the electric GLC in dealerships during the second half of 2026. Mercedes has not shared the exact price yet, but we can make a very good guess based on other models. The gas version of the 2026 GLC starts at just under $50,000, and since the batteries are expensive, the GLC 400 will likely start in the mid-$60,000 range.
