Updated BYD Denza Z9 and Z9GT exceed 620 miles range mark
The Chinese MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) published some regulatory filings, revealing key specs about the upcoming BYD Denza Z9 and the Denza Z9GT. The most notable upgrades are the battery packs.
620 miles of range">
Both models will soon be equipped with either 102 kWh or 122 kWh batteries. The 102 kWh unit on the Z9 extends the range to 562 miles as per CLTC, while the 122 kWh battery boosts that range to 664 miles, depending on the configuration, of course.
The Z9GT's range goes up to 547 miles by CLTC standards with the smaller 102 kWh battery, while the 122 kWh unit scores 644 miles. Again, these numbers vary a little depending on the powertrain.
Speaking of powertrain, there will be plenty of options to choose from. Both models get a base single-motor configuration with 496 hp, while the Denza Z9GT has a beefy tri-motor version with 1,140 hp maximum output.

The regulatory filings also reveal a PHEV variant of the Z9GT with an unusually big, for PHEV, battery pack rated at 63.82 kWh. The pure electric range on that model is 249 miles as per CLTC.
When it comes to exterior design, there aren't many changes to the vehicle. We only spotted a new LiDAR placement on the roof, while the Z9GT gets an active rear spoiler and a fixed roof spoiler.
