Detailed specifications for new Xiaomi Sky Nomad SUV revealed
Xiaomi made its name selling smartphones, but the company is now fully invested in the automotive industry. The latest data from China EV DataTracker shows that Xiaomi Auto delivered 185,055 electric cars during the first half of 2026 - a healthy 17.2 percent growth compared to the previous year. To keep this momentum going, the company is preparing to enter a new segment of the market. Documents from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology exposed the core specifications for not one but two upcoming large SUVs. These models will launch under the new Sky Nomad series, targeting buyers who need more space.
Some early rumors suggested that Sky Nomad would operate as a completely separate sub-brand, but the official updates clarify that this is simply a new model line directly under the main Xiaomi Auto badge. The company plans to divide its lineup based on customer needs. The standard Xiaomi vehicles will focus on fully electric cars, and in contrast, the Sky Nomad lineup will target families who want comfort and long-distance travel. For the last bit to work, the new vehicles use an extended-range system, commonly known as an EREV.
Xiaomi Sky Nomad N70
The first and smaller model in this family-focused lineup is the Skynomad N70. This is already a large SUV that measures 195.3 inches long, 78.7 inches wide, and 70.3 inches tall, with a wheelbase of 116.1 inches. For perspective, this footprint makes the N70 nearly 3.94 inches longer than a Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV. The vehicle has a standard five-seat configuration inside the cabin. On the outside, it has a front overhang of 37.4 inches and a rear overhang of 41.7 inches. This design gives the vehicle an approach angle of 18 degrees and a departure angle of 22 degrees. Depending on the exact options chosen, the curb weight ranges between 5,408 lb and 5,754 lb.
The basic version of the N70 uses a single electric motor driving the rear wheels. This motor delivers 210 kW - about 282 horsepower. Energy comes from a 52 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery manufactured by Sunwoda. This setup delivers a pure electric range of 168 miles. When the battery runs low, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine turns on. Built by a Changan subsidiary, Harbin Dongan, this engine generates 112 kW (150 horsepower) and acts entirely as an electricity generator. With a depleted battery, the crossover consumes 5.8 liters of fuel per 62 miles. The top speed is 118 mph.

Buyers who want all-wheel drive can choose the N70 Max. This version adds a 100 kW motor to the front axle, bringing total system output to 310 kW, or 416 horsepower. Apparently, in the world of modern electric cars, having over 400 horsepower is now considered a bit modest, as several competing EREVs offer even higher numbers. To make up for this, Xiaomi fits the N70 Max with a larger 76 kWh ternary nickel-manganese-cobalt battery from CALB. This upgrade boosts the pure electric driving range to 236 miles. When running on gasoline, fuel consumption rises to 6.2 liters per 62 miles. This version also has distinctive exterior details, including an electric side step and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for driver assistance.
If somehow you find the N70 not large enough, Xiaomi has an even bigger option waiting in the wings. The Sky Nomad N90 is a full-size SUV designed to dominate the road. It is 208.1 inches long, 78.7 inches wide, and 71.9 inches tall. Its wheelbase stretches to 121.3 inches, making it 6.3 inches longer than a Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV. It is a heavy machine, tipping the scales with an empty curb weight of 6,173 lb and a maximum gross weight of 7,410 lb. This version rides on staggered 21-inch wheels, using 255/45 tires at the front and wider 265/45 tires at the back.

The interior of the N90 will offer both five-seat and seven-seat configurations. Xiaomi included an interesting design choice for the cabin: the front seats can rotate 180 degrees backward, allowing passengers to face each other when the vehicle is stationary. The government regulatory agency only revealed details for the high-end Max trim - it uses the exact same powertrain setup found in the smaller N70 Max. It uses the 1.5-liter gasoline generator alongside two electric motors that combine for 310 kW (416 horsepower). Like the smaller model, its top speed is electronically limited to 118 mph.
Because of its larger body and higher weight, the N90 Max is slightly less efficient than its smaller sibling. The vehicle has the same 76 kWh ternary battery pack from CALB, but the maximum pure electric range drops slightly to 230 miles. Once that electrical energy is spent, the onboard gasoline generator consumes 6.26 liters of fuel per 62 miles to keep the SUV going. The vehicle has a 38 inches front overhang and a long 48.8 inches rear overhang, resulting in an approach angle of 18 degrees and a departure angle of 19 degrees.

Launching these large, family-oriented EVs could provide a massive lift to Xiaomi's overall automotive sales. Its pure electric cars are very popular in urban areas, but many buyers still worry about charging infrastructure during long holiday trips. By offering comfortable crossovers with an integrated gasoline generator, Xiaomi wants to appeal to traditional buyers who want the smooth feel of an electric drive without the fear of getting stranded.
