VW confirms ID. Tiguan is coming, shows it in testing

Just as expected since March, Volkswagen has today confirmed that the ID. Tiguan is coming. It will be fully unveiled in early October, and will be available alongside the Tiguan with combustion and hybrid powertrains.

The ID. Tiguan is intended to be the successor to both the ID.4 and ID.5. As such, these will probably be retired after its release, which VW says will happen at the beginning of next year. Soon, all of the numbered ID models will be a distant memory - the ID. Tiguan follows the ID. Polo and ID. Cross.

Before the company is ready to reveal the ID. Tiguan in full, it has shown us some images of it undergoing testing on various roads, wearing some camouflage.

This is undoubtedly a very important car for VW, as the Tiguan is currently the best-selling model worldwide for both the Volkswagen brand and the entire Volkswagen Group. In the past year alone, deliveries of the Tiguan (alongside its sister model, the Tayron) exceeded one million units.

Meanwhile, the ID.4 and ID.5 combined have reached 950,000 units sold since 2021 when they launched, so they weren't major flops by any means, and the ID. Tiguan's job to replace them won't be too easy.
