Honda teases two EV sports cars, including NSX successor

Ro, 14 April 2022

During an online presentation, Honda's president, Toshihiro Mibe, teased two full-electric sports cars, part of its ambitious future lineup that should reach 30 models by the end of this decade. He was careful not to give any timeline on those two, however.

During the announcement, he showed silhouettes of two cars and the one on the right is likely the NSX successor given the mid-engine design. The current NSX supercar is still in production and it's the first of its kind to use a hybrid powertrain. However, it will soon be phased out of the assembly line.

The upcoming NSX EV and the other unnamed sports EV are destined for a global release but given that the brand has special attention to the North American and Asian markets, we will likely see them released there first.

The president once again stressed his company's collaboration with General Motors when it comes to its EVs for the American market. They are also working on developing a plant for solid-state batteries that should be available in the second part of this decade, which in turn means that one or both of these upcoming vehicles might adopt the new tech.
