Audi announces 2024 Q4 e-tron 55 refresh in the US, axes the 40 and 50 versions

Audi just announced a 2024 refresh of its Q4 55 e-tron SUV. The 55 is to remain the only available powertrain for the Q4 e-tron as the company is dropping the Q4 45 and Q4 50 e-tron. Positively, the new Q4 55 e-tron is starting at the same price as the old Q4 50, so you'll be getting more power for the same price.

Interior and exterior-wise, the new Q4 55 e-tron doesn't bring too many changes compared to its predecessor but adds a 21-inch wheel option.

The 2024 Q4 55 e-tron is less powerful compared to the 2023 Q4 55-etron by 5 hp (335 hp vs. 340 hp), but when put against the Q4 50 e-tron it matches in price, it adds about 40 hp.

Audi also highlights a slightly modified battery, allowing for faster charging - at up to 170 kW (vs 150 kW before). It should let you go from 10 to 80% in 28 minutes. A slight bump in range is also advertised, now 258 miles according to EPA.

The automaker adds a post-conditioning feature to cool down the battery after a long drive or fast charging, prolonging its life.

Last but not least, the 2024 Q4 55 e-tron gets an upgraded suspension, offering better balance, better steering response and tighter load control.

These changes apply to the Q4 Sportback 55 e-tron version as well, which now starts at $58,220, while the non-Sportback configuration now asks $55,200. Again, that's exactly how much the Q4 50 e-tron used to cost.
