Buick shows off futuristic Wildcat EV Concept

Ivan, 01 June 2022

Today, Buick showed off the Wildcat EV Concept, which is set to define the styling of the GM sub-brand's future EVs. Along with the new design language, Buick also showed its new badge, which will adorn its cars starting next year.

Back to the Wildcat EV Concept car. It's a four-seater fastback with aggressive, futuristic styling, sloping lines, and aerodynamic body. The headlights feature micro-LEDs in thin-beam projector lenses, while the taillights are embedded into the sail panel.

The wheels invoke a jet turbine image with 18 spokes. The doors are semi-swing and the sloping roof lifts at the point where it meets the door frame to ease entry.

Inside, there's a floating center console and cockpit-like seats with floating headrests. The side mirrors use cameras, and there are touch-enabled displays in the dashboard and the center concole.

The Wildcat EV Concept is a futuristic and aggressive design that will shape Buick's all-electric fleet of the future. However, it's only a concept and it won't make it onto roads. It's not even designed to carry GM's Ultium battery pack.

It's interesting how GM will implement the Wildcat's design, given that Buick's EV line, set to arrive in 2025, will be an all-SUV one. The GM-owned carmaker is set to group its EVs under the Electra moniker and aims to have an all-electric lineup from 2030, consisting of, again, all SUVs.

The first Buick EV is set to be announced in 2024, and it will share the Cadillac Lyriq platform, which means it will be of similar size and carry a 100kWh battery.
