Nio EC7 spotted again ahead of its official launch this weekend

Local Chinese media outlets shared more spy photos of the yet to be announced Nio EC7 spotted testing somewhere in China. The media attention is clearly focused on this upcoming electric SUV from Nio with its expected launch to happen at this week’s Nio Day.

Auto Home shared the latest batch of photos of the sporty-looking SUV withs its swooping roofline clearly visible in the shots. The car is still heavily camouflaged and the photos themselves have been edited which doesn’t help with trying to figure out what we actually see.

Nio Day is happening this year on December 24 in Hefei where Nio has its manufacturing base. There is an official vehicle launch scheduled for 7 PM local time and that’s when we can expect to see the EC7 in its full glory, it will be accompanied by a refreshed Nio ES8 based on the NT 2.0 platform.

To add credence to the rumors and sightings of the camouflaged EC7 that the launch is imminent, Nio has stopped displaying information about its predecessor, the EC6 model in the Nio app - there is no way to place an order for it and waiting times for vehicle delivery are no longer displayed. The same happened to ES8 - its information is no longer available as well.

Nio EC7 spotted testing on public roads

The fever around Nio EC7 is reaching boiling point with many Chinese media outlets and local bloggers posting countless photos of the test vehicles spotted in various locations. Many people on social media commented that this appears to be Nio’s “prettiest car yet” and the expectations are quite high.

Nio is planning to transition all of its models to the updated NT 2.0 platform over the next year and the company confirmed it will launch 5 new electric car models in 2023 before the end of June - that’s a very impressive plan and it points to the busiest year in Nio’s short history.

Nio EC7 will feature the latest Nio Aquila super-sensing suite supported by Nio Adam supercomputer platform that together will operate Nio’s latest assisted driving system. There will be three battery options - 75 kWh, 100 kWh and 150 kWh with the largest battery offering a 900 km range according to the report from Auto Home.
