Porsche Taycan 2025 gets more power, longer range and faster charging

Porsche just announced its updated Taycan for the model year 2025 and it comes plenty of new features and under-the-hood changes. The new Taycan gets more range, more power thanks to the new rear-moutned motor and faster charging. A couple of in-cabin tweaks make the user experience better too.

The RWD model is snappier than its predecessor, doing 0 - 62 mph in 4.5 seconds. On the Turbo models, Porsche added a push-to-pass function which gives a momentary 70 kW boost. It lasts 10 seconds after a push of a button and can bring the total output all the way to 938 hp.

This is partly due to the new rear-mounted motor giving the system an additional 80 kW output. The model also comes with a modified pulse inverter, bigger batteries, a new thermal management system, and a brand-new heat pump. This ensures better efficiency as well.

The large battery now ship with a 105 kWh unit, up from 93 kWh. This enables a 365 miles range per charge, although this is internal data so we would have to wait for third-party ratings such as EPA.

Charging is also improved. In ideal conditions and when plugged into an 800V DC fast charger, the Taycan 2025 reaches 320 kW - a 50 kW increase from the previous model. A standard 150 kW DC/DC converter is also included and aims to optimize charging on 400V networks. The vehicle should be able to charge from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes.

Other notable changes to the specs sheet include an adaptive air suspension to all trims, whereas the new AWD variant gets Active Ride suspension as an option. Lane Change Assist, Ambient lighting, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager and a new cooling system are now all standard features.

New styling to the headlights and taillights ensure a fresh look in 2024 and with a more aggressive-looking stance.

The instrument cluster and infotainment system are now revamped and you can now switch between driving modes directly from the steering wheel.

Porsche highlights the new Apple CarPlay system as it's now more deeply integrated into the Taycan's infotainment system. Video streaming on the central and passenger displays is now available.

The sedan and the Cross Turismo options are available to order with actual shipments commencing sometime this summer in the US. The starting price has gone up and is now $99,400.
