Tesla Cybertruck specs sheet leaks to confirm dimensions

Tesla's much-anticipated Cybertruck is about to start deliveries by the month's end. Amidst a sea of delays and hushed whispers of specifications, a new leak finally provides some specific numbers.

Spanning a length of 223 inches, the Cybertruck sits between the hefty full-size trucks and the more agile mid-size alternatives. It's a conscious dance on the edge of regulatory thresholds, with its 79.9 inch width just ducking under the 80 inches mark that would demand additional safety lighting.

The height, however, tells a story of modesty in a segment known for its towering statures. At 70.5 inches, it lowers the horizon, promising a more approachable profile while maintaining a roomy interior

It weighs in at a substantial 6,890 lb for the tri-motor setup and 6,670 lb for dual motor versions. The Cybertruck's heft is at least partially due to its robust steel structure and the enigmatic (but sizable for sure) battery.

A towing capacity of 11,000 lb may not shatter records, but it whispers a promise of competence without braggadocio. Meanwhile, the bed of the truck will stretch at almost exactly six feet.

But it's the addition of a NEMA 14-50 240v outlet in the bed that raises eyebrows and possibilities alike. Could this be Tesla's play to make the Cybertruck a mobile power station, capable of energizing not just tools and toys but entire homes? It's an intriguing prospect, given the company's ventures into home energy solutions.

Yet, for all its potential, the Cybertruck's frunk volume of just over 7.1 ft³ seems conservative, especially when pitted against the cavernous offerings from competitors like the F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T. It leaves one to ponder whether this is an oversight or a sacrifice at the altar of aesthetics.

As deliveries loom, the Cybertruck stands at a crossroads of innovation and expectation. Will it redefine the electric truck, or simply blend into the growing crowd of electrified haulers? While it’s hard to imagine Cybertruck blending into any environment, courtesy of its outlandish design, there is a faint possibility that once the prices are announced on November 30, there will be more people disappointed than those ready to pony up and get one for the driveway. Will Tesla's gamble pay off, or will the Cybertruck become the most expensive ripple in the automotive revolution?
