Voyah launches Taishan SUV - a flagship loaded with Huawei tech

Voyah, the upscale division of Dongfeng Motor, officially rolled out its newest flagship, the Voyah Taishan, an electric vehicle that arrives ready to challenge the top players in the luxury EV space. With a price range running from RMB 379,900 to RMB 509,900 (or about $53,200 to $71,400), this large SUV is clearly targeting discerning buyers who want a blend of electric range and high-tech features.

Voyah is positioning the Taishan directly against established rivals such as the Aito M9, Denza N9, and Zeekr 9X, with a bold intent to dominate the high-end six-seat market. The company even announced a high-end Black Warrior Edition, though customers must wait until the first quarter of 2026 for delivery of this particular version.

Size, as they say, matters, and the Voyah Taishan makes an imposing statement. The SUV measures a substantial 17.16 ft in length, 6.66 ft in width, and 5.97 ft in height, riding on a generous 10.24 ft wheelbase. This size allows for a very spacious six-seat layout, catering specifically to the needs of the premium family segment.

The exterior adopts Voyah's signature design language, featuring a striking, deep waterfall-style shield grille. An integrated LED light strip cuts across the front, connecting to an illuminated Voyah emblem at the center, creating a distinctly modern face. The main high- and low-beam headlight units tuck neatly into the side air intakes, part of a split-headlight arrangement. Along the side, the two-tone body highlights a sleek profile, complemented by semi-hidden door handles and uniquely styled "pie-dish" wheels.

Underneath the hood, the Taishan uses the Voyah Smart Super Hybrid system. This setup combines a 1.5T engine, which produces a maximum power of 110 kW, with two electric motors (150 kW front and 230 kW rear) that provide all-wheel-drive capability. The real story, however, lies in energy storage. The SUV comes standard with a substantial 65 kWh ternary lithium battery pack supplied by industry giant CATL.

This battery gives the Taishan a pure electric range of 230 miles (CLTC rating), with the total comprehensive range stretching out to an impressive 870 miles (CLTC), easing any worries about long road trips. This capability means most daily commutes can be handled without ever sipping gasoline, making the Taishan an effective part-time EV.

The battery range is impressive on its own, but Taishan's charging speed proves just how advanced its EV architecture really is. It runs on an 800V high-voltage platform and supports 5C ultra-fast charging. The Taishan can boost its battery from a 20% charge to an 80% charge in about 12 minutes, essentially eliminating charging anxiety for owners, making the transition to driving an EV seamless.

To handle all that size, the engineers gave the Taishan an advanced suspension system that sounds straight out of a luxury concept vehicle. It features a three-chamber air suspension system paired with EDC (Electronic Damper Control) "Magic Carpet" functionality. This sophisticated setup manages ride quality with incredible precision. For enhanced maneuverability in tight city spaces, the Taishan also includes 16° bidirectional independent rear-wheel steering.

Inside, the cabin's design follows the "Mountains and Seas" philosophy, prioritizing passenger comfort and high-tech amenities. The front dash centers around a large floating control screen, powered by the latest version of Huawei's HarmonyOS cockpit voice large model.

Huawei's involvement continues with the vehicle's brain: the ADS Ultra intelligent assisted driving solution. This system uses four LiDAR sensors, including Huawei's advanced 500-thread LiDAR, giving the Taishan the capability for urban NCA (Navigation Cruise Assist) and full-scenario automatic parking. The Taishan ensures occupants travel in style, offering AI Cloud Comfort Seats and a 32-speaker "Tianlai" panoramic sound system. This audio setup has a 9.1.5.8 channel configuration and an ear-splitting maximum amplifier power of 2300W.

The combination of size, a long EV range, ultra-fast charging, and Huawei technology makes the Voyah Taishan a genuine contender in the premium large SUV class. As manufacturers continue to push the envelope for both electric and luxury vehicles, the Taishan delivers range flexibility without sacrificing advanced features.
