Waymo's next destination is Singapore, here's when it's launching its robotaxi service

Vlad, 18 September 2026

Waymo has now announced its next destination for its autonomous ride-hailing service: Singapore. This comes after its US expansion, of course, but also its announcements about landing in Tokyo, London, and Munich.

In Singapore, Waymo plans to start offering its autonomous ride-hailing service in 2028. Ahead of that, in 2027 trained specialists will drive manually around the city-state, "adapting the Waymo Driver to local road geometry, monsoon weather patterns, and more". This will be done with Waymo's Jaguar I-Pace EVs, which will begin arriving in Singapore "in the coming months".

Waymo wants to complement Singapore's public transport system, and will collaborate locally with the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Authority. The Minister for Transport, Jeffrey Siow, is shown in the image above alongside Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana.
