2026 BYD Seal 07 gets faster charging
On March 5, 2026, BYD officially launched the Seal 07 EV. This mid-size sedan is a major step forward in how fast an electric vehicle can recharge its battery. BYD is hoping to take the lead from its competitors by offering advanced technology at a much lower price point.
One of the most impressive things about the Seal 07 EV is the price. The car comes in two different versions. The base model starts at RMB 169,900, which is about $24,600. The higher trim level costs RMB 189,900, or roughly $27,500. When you compare this to the popular Xiaomi SU7, the difference is clear - the Xiaomi starts at RMB 215,900 ($31,300). By pricing the Seal 07 EV over 21% lower than its main rival, BYD is making it very hard for shoppers to ignore it.

The new model uses BYD's "Marine Aesthetics" design style. It is a sleek, modern-looking car that measures 196.7 inches long, 75.2 inches wide, 58.9 inches high, and it sits on a 114.2 inches wheelbase. It looks great on the outside, but the real magic of this car is hidden underneath the floor.
The Seal 07 EV gets the second-generation Blade Battery. Specifically, it uses a version called the Short Blade 2.0. Some of BYD's new electric cars are getting batteries that can go over 620 miles, but the company chose a different path for this car. They focused on "Flash" charging - this battery allows the car to handle a massive amount of power at once. With the new 1,500 kW Flash Charging network, the Seal 07 EV can add 249 miles of driving range in just five minutes - about the same time it takes to fill up a gas-powered vehicle.

Efficiency is another area where this car shines. It uses a 240 kW motor that powers the rear wheels. The 69 kWh battery pack provides a total driving range of 438 miles based on CLTC testing. BYD claims the Seal 07 EV uses below 10 kWh of electricity for every 62 miles driven, making it one of the most efficient EVs currently on the road.
Inside the cabin, things look very high-tech. There is a "2+1" screen setup, which means there are three screens in total for the driver and passenger to use. There is also a head-up display that projects information onto the windshield. To keep things clean, BYD moved the gear selector to the steering column. The car even comes with a built-in refrigerator that can heat or cool your drinks and snacks, plus a wireless pad to charge your phone.

Safety and smart driving are also big parts of the package. Every version of the Seal 07 EV comes with the "God's Eye" driving system. This is the 5.0 version of the software, and it helps the car navigate through busy city streets almost by itself. The car uses a LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof to "see" the world around it and help the vehicle stay in its lane and avoid obstacles without the driver having to do all the work.
The Seal 07 EV will start shipping to customers from the Changzhou factory later in March.
