First ever Tesla Cybertruck in matte black spotted

Tesla Cybertruck, the ever-polarizing electric vehicle known for its unconventional stainless steel body, was recently spotted with a new twist - a matte black wrap. This sighting, featuring Tesla's Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen behind the wheel, has reignited speculation about potential factory customization options for the eagerly anticipated vehicle.

The matte black Cybertruck made its debut in Santa Monica, turning heads at a local "Teslas & Coffee" event. This isn't the first time the Cybertruck has been seen in alternative guises, with previous versions wrapped in various designs, including camouflage. However, these were more in the spirit of fun rather than serious styling options. The appearance of the vehicle in matte black, a classic and widely appreciated color, suggests a more serious consideration of aesthetic preferences by Tesla.

Tesla's recent introduction of premium color wraps for the Model 3 and Model Y, priced between $7,500 and $8,000, indicates the company's growing interest in providing personalization options. Given the Cybertruck's stainless steel body, which is not amenable to traditional painting methods, wraps could offer an ideal solution for owners looking to distinguish their vehicles. It's reasonable to expect that wrapping a larger vehicle like the Cybertruck might come with a heftier price tag, possibly exceeding $10,000.

The Cybertruck's unique design, with its sharp lines and angular form, may present both challenges and advantages in the wrapping process. The lack of curves might simplify the application and cutting of the wrap material. However, the vehicle's size means more material would be needed, potentially increasing the cost.

Interestingly, the Cybertruck's design eliminates the need for paint underneath the wrap. This raises questions about the necessity and choice of wrap materials, such as more expensive colored paint protection film (PPF) versus cheaper vinyl. While PPF offers advantages like durability and better protection, its use on a vehicle that lacks a paint layer to protect may not be as critical. This could open the door for more affordable vinyl options.

The introduction of factory wraps for the Cybertruck could be imminent, with speculation pointing to a timeline within six months of the vehicle's launch, currently scheduled for November 30.

The sighting of the matte black Cybertruck, coupled with Tesla's recent foray into in-house wrap installations, hints at an exciting future for customization options. As Tesla expands its wrap offerings, Cybertruck enthusiasts may soon have the chance to add a personal touch to their futuristic rides.

terrible built quality is easily seen in this 10sec video. most of the joints are misaligned here. just like model S and model X. just look at wheel flares and trunk joints. this vehicle costs more than $100.000!

The prices are probably missing a zero.
