Honda's 0 Series EVs are coming to CES 2025
Honda is coming to CES 2025 with two prototype electric vehicles from its highly anticipated 0 Series lineup. These prototypes, teased by the automaker, offer a glimpse into Honda's electric future and apparently will hit the global market in 2026. While Honda used to be a dominant player in the automotive world, its presence in the EV market has been somewhat limited.
The prototypes, believed to be evolutions of the Saloon and Space-Hub concepts shown at last year's CES, represent Honda's new design language for its next-generation EVs. The Saloon concept, a sleek and wedge-like sedan, and the Space-Hub concept, a versatile and spacious vehicle, are great examples of diverse design approaches Honda is taking with its 0 Series.
At CES 2024, Honda introduced its "Thin, Light, and Wise" development approach for the 0 Series. Honda wants to focus on creating EVs that are not only lightweight and efficient but also intelligent and technologically advanced. The company plans to shed some more light on this idea at CES 2025, particularly emphasizing the "Wise" aspect.
While Honda has been tight-lipped about the specifics of its 0 Series EVs, it has revealed some intriguing details about its production techniques. The company is investing in 6,000-ton megacasting machines and its proprietary Constant DC Chopping (CDC) welding technology. Honda claims these innovations will help to reduce the number of individual parts in its EVs, leading to lighter and more efficient vehicles.
In addition to the prototypes, Honda will unveil a new vehicle OS and automated driving technologies at CES 2025. The company will also provide insights into the system-on-chip (SoC) and Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) that will underpin the 0 Series.
