Xiaomi's upcoming sporty crossover YU7 promises impressive range and cutting-edge technology. The most recent filings with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveal a new trim level boasting a 478 miles range.

The YU7, expected to launch between June and July, features the design language established by the Xiaomi SU7. We see similar "teardrop" headlights and a front bumper reminiscent of its sedan sibling. The vehicle's aerodynamic profile, semi-concealed door handles, and frameless mirrors contribute to its sleek appearance.

Measuring 196.8 inches in length, 78.6 inches in width, and 63.3 inches in height, with a 118 inches wheelbase, the YU7 offers plenty of interior space. The rear of the SUV sports a ducktail spoiler and distinctive "halo" taillights, maintaining design consistency with the SU7. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor points to advanced autonomous driving capabilities. Interestingly, versions without LiDAR will still come with self-driving tech, suggesting Xiaomi is exploring vision-based solutions.

The interior of the YU7 is a departure from traditional instrument panel designs. Instead, we get a unique ultra-wide screen that spans the entire dashboard, providing drivers with all the essential information - range, speed, and navigation.

The YU7 will be available in single and dual-motor configurations. The top-tier dual-motor all-wheel-drive version delivers a combined output of 508 kW (691 horsepower), with front and rear motors producing 220 kW and 288 kW, respectively. This powerful setup allows for a top speed of 157 mph.

There is a lower-powered dual-motor variant that offers a combined output of 365 kilowatts, with front and rear motors producing 130 kW and 235 kW. And finally, the single-motor rear-wheel-drive version comes with a single 235 kW electric motor and reaches a top speed of 149 mph.

There are three battery options - a 96.3 kWh NMC pack, offering range options of 478 miles, 472 miles, and 419 miles. The larger, 101.7 kWh NMC battery pack provides a range of 416 miles, 466 miles, and 472 miles. An LFP battery is also offered in the single-motor version. The starting price for the Xiaomi YU7 is expected to be around RMB 250,000 (approximately $34,500).
