Peugeot rolls ChatGPT to all of its vehicles

Max McDee, 08 July 2024

Peugeot decided it would be a good idea to integrate ChatGPT into its entire lineup of cars, including its latest EVs. This decision follows a successful pilot program involving over 10,000 customers and is designed to enhance the driving experience by leveraging artificial intelligence.

Starting immediately, new Peugeot EVs like the e-208, e-2008, and e-308 will come standard with ChatGPT, accessible through the i-Cockpit's voice assistant. The feature will roll to existing customers via an over-the-air update. The e-3008 and e-5008 will follow before the end of this year.

ChatGPT's integration into Peugeot's i-Cockpit promises to transform how drivers interact with their vehicles. ChatGPT can provide sophisticated answers to a wide range of questions, which means arriving in an unfamiliar city should become a less stressful experience. Asking ChatGPT to recommend landmarks to visit, followed by a brief history of each location, and finally, directions to your chosen destination.

ChatGPT's capabilities extend beyond answering questions. Long road trips with restless children? ChatGPT can organize a quiz on their favorite topics, keeping them engaged and entertained for hours. From finding the nearest charging station to suggesting the perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner, ChatGPT claims it can do a lot. But please don't follow its pizza-cooking recipes - they get a little bit sticky.

Keep in mind though that the new feature isn't exactly free. For current Peugeot EV owners, ChatGPT is available as part of the Connect Plus pack, which comes in at $133 per year. Alternatively, it can be added as a standalone feature for a $17 yearly fee. New Peugeot EVs will come with ChatGPT included in the Connect Plus pack for the first six months, after which a subscription is required.

Excuse me sir but I'm pretty sure that Google can't tell me about landmarks and their history. Unless AI is going to show me how to get to hogwarts I'm not interested

€120 a year for ChatGPT? That's a bit steep! Gotta make sure it's worth the investment before splurging.

If you have a keen eye to detect bs marketing, you'll probably never buy anything bro. At least need to ignore it instead of getting worked up
