Audi Q6 Sportback E-Tron finally arrives in the US

Max McDee, 15 July 2025

Audi is expanding its lineup of electric cars with the official US launch of the 2025 Audi Q6 Sportback E-Tron. Positioned as the fashion-forward sibling to the more traditional Q6 E-Tron SUV, the Sportback model looks to buyers who prefer a sleek, coupe-like design. This new entry into the world of premium EVs comes exclusively with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration for the American market, regardless of the chosen trim level. The vehicle will go on sale before the end of July.

For a starting price of $70,895, the standard Q6 Sportback E-Tron offers a compelling package. It gets a 94.4 kWh battery pack that powers a dual-motor system producing a combined 456 horsepower (that's nearly 70 hp more than its European counterpart). This setup allows the electric crossover to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph. The Sportback achieves an estimated range of 319 miles on its standard 19-inch wheels. This is 12 miles more than its SUV counterpart, a direct benefit of its more aerodynamic shape, which includes a roofline that sits 1.46 inches lower.

For buyers wanting more thrills, Audi offers the SQ6 Sportback E-Tron. Starting at $77,595, this high-performance variant uses the same 94.4-kWh battery but has more powerful electric motors that deliver 509 horsepower (again - 20 hp more than the European version). The extra power shaves the 0-to-60 mph time down to 4.1 seconds. As is common with performance-oriented EVs, this added speed comes at the cost of some range. The SQ6 Sportback is rated for 283 miles on a full charge.

Choosing the Sportback's flowing lines over the SUV's boxier profile does involve a few considerations. The first is cost. The Q6 Sportback E-Tron is $3,800 more expensive than the equivalent Q6 E-Tron SUV, while the performance-focused SQ6 Sportback commands a $3,400 premium over its SUV sibling. The second trade-off is in utility. While the coupe-like roofline is visually appealing, it cuts into cargo capacity. The Sportback offers 26.1 ft³ of trunk space, a reduction of about 4.1 ft³ compared to the regular SUV version.

Both versions of the Q6 Sportback E-Tron are built on the advanced Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, an 800-volt system co-developed within the Volkswagen Group and shared with the Porsche Macan EV. Thanks to this platform, the Q6 Sportback can accept power at up to 270 kilowatts at a compatible DC fast-charging station. This allows the battery to be refilled from 10% to 80% in approximately 21 minutes.

The SQ6 Sportback E-Tron comes standard with 20-inch wheels, a Sport adaptive air suspension system, and massaging front seats in its Premium trim. Buyers can upgrade to the Premium Plus trim, which adds advanced driver aids: adaptive cruise control, an augmented reality head-up display, a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system, and a top-view camera system. The top-tier Prestige trim adds acoustic glass for the front doors to reduce cabin noise, a larger digital instrument cluster, and futuristic digital OLED taillights with customizable light signatures.
