Leapmotor C10 will be sold in China too, along with international markets

Last month at IAA Mobility in Munich, Germany, Leapmotor presented its C10, an SUV that was billed as the spearhead of the company's international expansion. Thus, it was announced for overseas markets first, which is exactly the opposite of how most Chinese EV brands do things.

We're used to new models getting their unveiling in China first, and then, usually several months later, there's an announcement about international (which generally means European) availability.

Leapmotor, on the other hand, chose the reverse strategy, it seems, as the C10 has now been certified for sale in China by MIIT. So, despite what the September launch might have you believe, this EV isn't going to stay out of China. It's definitely headed there too.

The C10 is 186.6 inches long, 74.8 inches wide, and 66.1 inches tall, with a 111.2 inches wheelbase. It weighs 4,277 lb or 4,332 lb, depending on version. It uses LFP batteries from CALB, and a 170 kW (231 hp) single motor or a 250 kW (340 hp) dual motor. The top speed is 106 mph.

The infotainment system is powered by Qualcomm's 8205 chip, and uses the self-developed Leap OS which supports Face ID and AR-HUD. The car has LiDARs, high precision cameras, and a bunch of other sensors.

The C10 uses Leapmotor's Leap 3.0 platform, which will also underpin four more vehicles launching in the next two years. These will be sold across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, the Americas, and, it seems, China too. This platform has also been licensed by VW for its upcoming Jetta models in China.
