Dodge teases the electric 2025 Charger

In a surprising move, Dodge has unveiled the next-generation 2025 Charger. The American muscle car is undergoing a significant transformation, with an electrifying twist that may leave some enthusiasts skeptical.

As we welcome the new year, it also marks the end of an era for the Dodge Charger and Challenger muscle car duo as we've known them. However, Dodge isn't leaving us in suspense for long. The 2025 Charger, bearing a striking resemblance to the 2022 Daytona SRT Banshee Concept, boasts bigger side mirrors and an intriguing charging port or gas cap flap. This pre-production model is tantalizingly close to what consumers can expect to purchase later this year.

The illuminated Fratzog logo positioned between the headlights and the "R-Wing" front opening, a nod to the original 1969 Charger Daytona, sets a nostalgic tone for this modern muscle car. Staggered-width tires and a conspicuous feature on the driver's side rear fender, which could be a charge port or a gas-tank filler neck, add to the intrigue.

A decklid spoiler, unseen in previous concepts, adds a touch of sophistication to the car's rear end, sitting above what appear to be square taillights. Although not lit up in the photos, these taillights hint at a unique design choice. Dodge is evidently determined to combine modern aesthetics with its muscle car DNA.

As for power, the Charger EV will come in various flavors. The base version will feature a single electric motor delivering 402 hp (300 kW/408 PS) to the rear wheels. An upcoming twin-motor variant is poised to provide a substantial 670 hp (500 kW/680 PS) to all four wheels. The top-of-the-line model is expected to push the boundaries with a staggering 885 hp (660 kW/897 PS). However, the specifics of this powerhouse are yet to be confirmed, leaving us with bated breath.

While the Charger's redesign promises a fresh look, it's the powertrain options that raise the most questions. Will the Charger be available exclusively as an EV, or will some variants feature the Hurricane inline-six engine? Dodge's intentions regarding a hybrid setup remain shrouded in mystery. Enthusiasts are eager to know whether this icon of American muscle will retain some internal combustion power or fully embrace the electric future.
