Unreleased Porsche Taycan Turbo GT breaks Nurburgring record

Porsche has unleashed a new beast onto the Nurburgring, smashing its own records with the upcoming Taycan Turbo GT. This electrifying pre-series model has clocked an impressive 7:07.55-minute lap time, sending shockwaves through the electric car realm and putting Tesla Model S Plaid on notice.

Although Porsche did not confirm the name of the fastest Taycan yet, it is quite safe to presume it'll follow in the footsteps of its bigger sibling, the 650 hp Cayenne Turbo GT when it comes to picking the name for this hot chariot.

Porsche's development driver, Lars Kern, took the yet-to-be-released Taycan Turbo GT for a few laps around the challenging Nordschleife track. The result was staggering 26 seconds faster than the Turbo S variant, solidifying its place in the supercar echelon.

Lars Kern's mastery behind the wheel showcased the new Turbo GT's prowess, leaving the Turbo S in its electric dust. The 7:07.55 lap time not only eclipses its predecessor but also outshines the Tesla Model S Plaid by a remarkable 20 seconds. This achievement places the Taycan in the same league as electric hypercars, a feat not to be taken lightly.

Despite the jaw-dropping performance, Porsche is keeping the Turbo GT under wraps until its full unveiling in 2024. Spy shots and leaked information hint at a model that might wear the Turbo GT nameplate, boasting wider wheel arches, aero enhancements, and a minimalist approach that goes as far as removing the charging port on the left-hand side.

The pictures reveal a trim-specific body kit, featuring a front splitter with winglets, strategically placed air intakes, side skirts, and a substantial rear wing. Adding to the mystique, Porsche equipped the pre-production prototype with a roll cage and racing bucket seats before letting it loose on the 'Ring.

With the Turbo GT rewriting the Nürburgring records, all eyes are on Porsche for the official reveal later in 2024. As the fastest Taycan ever takes a victory lap, enthusiasts are left speculating on the powerhouse hidden beneath the sleek exterior. The Turbo S, currently the most potent Taycan, boasts up to 750 horsepower. However, whispers and the 26-second gap suggest that the Turbo GT will comfortably exceed the 900 hp mark, positioning it as the most powerful Taycan variant ever.
