Xiaomi patents traffic light identification tech for self-driving
It seems like Xiaomi is making big strides towards completing its EV project. The company promised to deliver its first vehicle in 2024 and it already showcased its advanced self-driving system. Today, Xiaomi announced that it has acquired a patent for traffic light identification.
Using the car's sensors and cameras, the system can collect multi-frame light status images, determine the time sequence of the traffic light and analyze the driving status of the vehicle on the front. This largely improves accuracy and safety of the self-driving system.
In addition, Xiaomi also boasted about an "Automated Driving System and Control Methods, Devices, Vehicles and Equipment" patent along with five others related to path planning, vehicle camera cleaning and chip trajectory predictions.
This seems to be in line with the previous report from a few days ago saying that Xiaomi's vehicle has entered the software integration stage that should be completed by November.

Xiaomi has to change its name (like Mi) if they want to step out of China. Xiaomi is officially the 2nd most mispronounced tech brand in the world. Alibaba name came out with that idea and it was brilliant.
