Xiaomi's upcoming YU7 SUV gets spied without camo

Vlad, 21 December 2024

Xiaomi's SU7 has been incredibly successful, with the company having delivered more than 100,000 units in just a few months. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has already confirmed that the second model is coming next year, it's called YU7 and will be an SUV (that is very Ferrari Purosangue-inspired, if we dare say so).

While the CEO did share some official images of the car earlier this month, there's nothing like seeing a prototype in the flesh, right? So that's exactly what we're bringing you today, as a YU7 has been roaming the streets in China with no camo on, out there for all to see.

Obviously there's nothing new here that we haven't seen in the official pictures in terms of design, but it's good to get an idea about how this will look on the road (and in parking lots), not just in press renders.

The YU7 is rumored to cost between CNY 300,000 ($41,000) and CNY 400,000 ($55,000), and the report that brought us the live images claims it will be officially launched in June or July. Even the entry-level version reportedly has a large battery and LiDAR. The YU7 is aiming to compete directly with Tesla's Model Y.

The YU7 is 196.8 inches long, 78.6 inches wide, and 63 inches tall, with a wheelbase of 118 inches. A dual-motor version will develop 508kW (691hp) of power, and will have a maximum speed of 157 mph.
