The 2025 XPeng X9 sets course for global markets

Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng is broadening its horizons with the launch of the updated 2025 X9 MPV. This seven-seat electric car, previously available in mainland China, is now setting its sights on Europe and other international markets.
The 2025 X9 maintains its predecessor's starting price in China at RMB 359,800, which translates to just over $49,000. This price point is even lower than the initial pre-sale price announced earlier this month. XPeng's chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, confirmed the European launch for the second half of 2025. Prior to this, XPeng introduced a right-hand drive version in Thailand in February and began taking orders in Indonesia in March, with plans to enter the Bahrain market later this year.

The new X9 comes in four different versions in China, and all models share the same spacious dimensions: a length of 208.4 inches, a width of 78.3 inches, and a height of 70.3 inches. The wheelbase, measuring 124.4 inches, also remains consistent with the previous model.
The 2025 version uses an advanced 800V high-voltage platform. The base model gets a 94.8 kWh battery, providing a CLTC range of 404 miles. This variant boasts impressive 5C charging capability, allowing it to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just under 12 minutes. The three higher-end versions are equipped with a larger 105 kWh battery, offering a CLTC range of 436 miles to 460 miles. These models support 3C charging, achieving a 10 to 80 percent charge in approximately 20 minutes.

Performance-wise, the two entry-level X9 models are single-motor, front-wheel drive vehicles producing 235 kW of peak power and 332 lb-ft of peak torque. These can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds. The two more premium variants add a rear motor, increasing the total peak power to 370 kW and peak torque to 472 lb-ft. This dual-motor setup significantly improves acceleration, allowing these models to reach 62 mph from a standstill in just 5.7 seconds.
The biggest change in the 2025 model is the removal of the LiDAR system found in its predecessor. Instead, the new X9 adopts a pure vision smart driving system, aligning with the approach taken in several other recent XPeng EVs. All 2025 X9 models come standard with the free Turing AI ADAS, providing a suite of advanced safety and driver assistance features.

And finally, the 2025 X9 is equipped with rear-wheel steering. This feature significantly reduces the turning radius to just 212.6 inches, making the large MPV surprisingly agile in various driving conditions, especially in the cities.
The X9, first introduced in January 2024, serves as the flagship model built upon Xpeng's SEPA 2.0 and is the highest-priced vehicle in XPeng's current lineup.
