Xiaomi secret two-door electric sports car spotted in China

Max McDee, 29 June 2026

Xiaomi, known globally for smartphones, entered the automotive industry with high ambitions. Two electric cars in short succession - the SU7 sedan followed quickly by the YU7 SUV - became a runaway success. We knew the Chinese electronics giant was already working on a larger SUV, but what we did not know was that Xiaomi was cooking up something entirely else.

Social media networks in China erupted with excitement when photographers captured a mysterious, heavily disguised two-door coupe driving on a highway. Although the manufacturer has not put any official badges on the vehicle, you don't need to be an expert to figure out its origins. The prototype looks like a true high-performance track machine that will certainly challenge established European supercar legacy brands.

A few distinct design details connect this anonymous test vehicle directly to the Xiaomi brand. The most obvious indicator is the rear lighting signature, with its continuous, ring-shaped red light bar across the trunk. This exact design matches the lighting found on the company's production electric cars. The low-slung, wide body shape and the specific curve of the teardrop roofline reflect the design style of the high-performance Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. We believe this production model has been inspired by the Vision GT concept car, which exists only in video games.

The prototype sports some aggressive aerodynamic hardware built specifically for high-speed race tracks. A massive, swan-neck fixed rear wing sits right on the rear decklid, looking large enough to belong on an airplane. The car itself has a large multi-layered rear diffuser (an aerodynamic panel under the bumper that controls airflow) to increase downforce and stability. The multi-spoke alloy wheels expose bright yellow, high-performance brake calipers.

This new two-door coupe, most likely to be simply called Xiaomi GT, will be the perfect home for the company's ultimate electric powertrain. A while back, Xiaomi revealed a massive quad-motor setup (a system using four separate electric motors) capable of producing 2,054 horsepower, but the company has never installed this system in any of its vehicles. This hyper-motor configuration combines two in-house V8S electric motors with two next-generation high-output drives. If the rumors are accurate, this new performance model will sit above the three-motor layout that powers the SU7 Ultra.

Controlling more than 2,000 horsepower requires highly advanced electronic systems. The unreleased sports car uses a fully active intelligent chassis framework that runs on a modern 48V digital electrical distribution network. This advanced setup puts independent 4.6 kW power sources at each wheel to adjust the vehicle's suspension damping instantly during hard cornering, eliminating body roll entirely. Additionally, the vehicle shifts core handling functions over to a software-driven steer-by-wire system, which helps to optimize tire traction limits under extreme cornering forces.

High electrical discharge rates create massive amounts of heat in battery cells, especially during fast track driving. To combat this issue, the two-door GT uses upgraded cooling loops based on the components built for the SU7 Ultra track sedan. This helps to manage battery temperatures and keeps the car from entering safety "limp mode," and allows drivers to maintain peak speeds on racing circuits for extended periods without experiencing a sudden drop in power.

Xiaomi is enjoying a huge commercial success in its home market, meaning this sports car is backed by high-volume production lines. According to the latest data from China EV DataTracker, the brand delivered 24,023 sedans and 8,736 SUVs in May 2026 alone. The new two-door model will occupy a premium position at the absolute top of the brand's product catalog. It will sit well above the existing four-door flagship variant, which has a starting price of RMB 529,900, or approximately $78,000.

The new Xiaomi GT is a performance halo car that is part of a larger plan to establish global technical credibility before entering new international markets. Official corporate disclosures reveal that the electric vehicle division plans to launch its overseas commercial expansion during the second half of 2027. The company will focus on developed European markets with a selection of mid-to-high-end EVs. The brand has already proved its engineering capabilities when its four-door track variant completed a verified lap of the famous Nurburgring race track in 6 minutes and 22.091 seconds, followed by the YU7 GT becoming the fastest SUV around the Green Hell.

With the new hyper EV, wealthy driving enthusiasts will face some amusing choices. Drivers who find the 1,500-horsepower SU7 Ultra a bit boring, or who believe the 1,000-horsepower YU7 GT is only good for driving children to school, will finally have a dedicated two-door track tool. For those fortunate Xiaomi fans who will end up owning all three models, deciding which high-performance vehicle to drive each morning will surely be a nice problem to have.
