Tesla Model 3 Highland aftermarket stalks look solid

Are you thinking of getting the new Tesla Model 3 facelift, codenamed Highland, or do you already own one, but you absolutely hate the button blinkers on the steering wheel? Well, there's an aftermarket solution that may give you the best of both worlds. You can find them at Bilkomponenter.no for NOK 7,000 ($666).

This particular aftermarket solution looks pretty close to the stock one. And by "stock stalks", we mean the ones the original Model 3 used to have. They look and feel very close to the real thing, but the feedback isn't exactly the same. Аlso, the aftermarket stalks are placed a bit further away from the steering wheel - approximately 0.39 inches. It will take time to get used to.

The stalks are no different from the original ones functionally. A soft nudge cancels an active blinker, while cruise control and Autopilot are activated using the right stalk while on the move. The only difference is that you can't activate or cancel them with a soft press; you need to do a full, hard press.

However, Bjorn's review showed there's room for improvement. Despite being bulkier than the original, the main console rattles a little, and the stalks wiggle. There's a bit of slack to them. Moreover, there are a few hundred milliseconds of latency. Pressing the stalk doesn't immediately turn on the turn signal, for example.

In any case, the aftermarket stalks, albeit imperfect, are a preferable solution to the buttons on the steering wheel.
