During one of Tesla's Q&A webcasts, Elon Musk hinted that version 4.0 of the Hardware computer is on its way but a new regulatory filing in the Netherlands suggests that it's closer than initially anticipated. Perhaps Tesla's March 1 event will see the unveiling of the Hardware 4.0 computer.

The regulatory filing reveals a list of changes related to Model S and X. The most intriguing ones are the update to the vehicle's top speed, which means that the new carbon ceramic brake kit is ready, allowing the Plaid versions of Model S and X to go beyond their current limitation. After the update and when the new brake kits are installed, the Model S should be able to reach 322 km/h. And there's also a new rear badging.

Unfortunately, as Musk said previously, Tesla won't be retrofitting the Hardware 4.0 computer into older models running on Hardware 3.0 as it's deemed financially and technically unfeasible.
