Xiaomi adds long-range model to YU7 lineup

Xiaomi is getting ready to make a big splash in the EV market with the upcoming YU7 electric SUV. Ahead of its debut, the company has updated its filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, revealing yet another new YU7 version. This time, the new SUV comes with a single motor and an impressive driving range of 519 miles. This new model will launch between June and July of this year, taking on the likes of the Tesla Model Y and the Xpeng G7.
The newly unveiled variant of the Xiaomi YU7 has a single but powerful electric motor that delivers 235 kW or just over 315 horsepower. Even though the car still weighs a substantial 5,104 lb, it promises remarkable energy efficiency of just 13.3 kWh per 62 miles.

On the outside, the new model is still the same YU7 with a smooth, closed front grille, distinctive “water drop headlights,” and eye-catching daytime running lights. The upper portion of the headlight assembly is hollowed out to optimize airflow around the vehicle.
The YU7 sits firmly in the mid-size SUV category with its dimensions measuring 196.8 inches in length, 78.6 inches in width, and 63 inches in height. It also features a generous wheelbase of 118 inches, promising ample interior space.
The first photos of the interior suggest a sophisticated and comfortable cabin. A two-tone color scheme creates a visually appealing environment while the driver and passengers will benefit from a floating central control screen. The panoramic head-up display projects essential information like navigation and speed directly into the driver’s line of sight, minimizing distractions.
The entire Xiaomi YU7 lineup will support 800V high-voltage fast charging technology. While specific charging details for the 519 miles range version are yet to be announced, the company has stated that another single-motor variant with an 510 miles range can gain 124 miles of range with just five minutes of charging.

Market analysts are closely watching Xiaomi’s pricing strategy for the YU7. Drawing comparisons with competitors like the Tesla Model Y and XPeng G7, as well as Xiaomi’s own SU7 sedan pricing, the YU7 is anticipated to be priced in the range of RMB 250,000 to RMB 350,000 (approximately $35,000 to $49,000).
